Dolly Parton grew up in poverty with 11 siblings, but they always managed to get by. Despite this, Dolly did not get along with her brother Denver who she called 'mean.' One day in school, Dolly lied about having a fancy breakfast which resulted in Denver beating her up on their way home. The family was so poor that they slept three or four in a bed and the kids would often pee on each other, but they didn't seem to mind as it was the only warm thing they knew in the winter. Despite her success, Dolly never shied away from discussing her modest upbringing.
