Mariska Hargitay, who has played detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order SVU for over 20 years, revealed she will vote for Joe Biden after seeing him work to end the backlog of rape kits. During her appearance at the Democratic National Convention, Hargitay spoke about her shock at the statistics surrounding sexual assault and her commitment to ending it. She founded the Joyful Heart Foundation in 2004 to support survivors of sexual assault and change society's response to it. Hargitay has been heavily involved in supporting victims of sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence, including launching the End the Backlog initiative.
