Dolly Parton and her husband Carl Dean have been together for 57 years, with a happy and content relationship, despite remaining extremely private. They met in 1964 when Dolly had just moved to Nashville, and after dating for two years, they got married in a private ceremony at a Baptist church in Ringgold, Georgia. Carl is known for being not famous and avoiding the limelight. He has only appeared in public with Dolly twice. The couple did not have children but created a non-profit that provides free books to preschoolers called Imagination Library. On their 50th Golden Jubilee, they renewed their vows in an intimate ceremony at home.

Dolly credits their long-lasting love to being complete opposites and respecting each other's independence.
