In an interview with Wonderland Magazine, she reflected on her lockdown experience in Oklahoma with her extended family and three children, who she homeschooled during the pandemic. Stefani also lamented the difficulty of planning a wedding without her parents present and praised the need for a pause brought about by the pandemic. She gushed over Shelton's success and shared that they became engaged after five years of dating during their Oklahoma lockdown. Stefani recorded her fifth studio album Let Me Reintroduce Myself during the pandemic.
