Legendary singer Tina Turner has died at the age of 83 in her home in Switzerland after a long illness, according to a statement from her family. Born Anna Mae Bullock in Tennessee in 1939, Turner began performing with Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm in 1957 and achieved commercial success with the hit song "Fool in Love" in 1960. Despite their successful partnership, Ike was physically, emotionally and financially abusive towards Tina during their marriage. She filed for divorce in 1976, but faced harassment and intimidation from Ike during the proceedings as he controlled their finances and contracts.
After a decline in her career, Turner made a comeback with her solo album "Private Dancer" in 1984, which yielded several hit songs including "What's Love Got to Do With It".
