The idea for Barmageddon came about while Shelton and Daly were working together on the set of The Voice.
The show involves celebrities participating in rowdy bar games, and the first season was shot at Ole Red in downtown Nashville. Celebrity guests such as Gwen Stefani, Chris Young, Trace Adkins, and Kane Brown took part in the games. Shelton described the show as a real-life version of The Hangover.

In addition to his work on Barmageddon, Shelton is currently in his final season as a coach on The Voice.
